Eight week beginning fencing classes are typically offered at the beginning of the month from August thru May.  The class is designed for both youth (ages 10 and up) and adults.  The class will cover the basics of sport fencing with the foil and will introduce the student to the primary offensive and defensive techniques of foil fencing and its rules. The class is composed of two 4-week segments.  In the first segment we cover the technique components of foil fencing where each lesson builds upon one another.  The second segment will focus on supervised practice of the techniques learned and the rules and protocols of the sport.  Students completing the series will receive a club patch and certificate.  All equipment is provided for the duration of the class.

Beginning fencing classes are offered on either Monday nights (6:30 pm - 8:00 pm) or Thursday nights (6:45 pm - 8:15 pm) depending on the session.  Enrolment into a beginning class is upon reservation only.  To reserve a spot in a class, send an email to eric@sanluishighlanders.org or contact Coach McDonald at 805-542-9802.  A free 90-day USA Fencing trial membership is required to participate in the class.  In addition, as the club operates on a donation-only basis, we ask that you consider a donation of $50 for the eight week class to help us offset the cost of the facility and other expenses.  More information will be sent to you upon enrolment.

Beginning classes are typically combined youth and adult instruction.  Parents are encouraged to participate with their children.  Make-up lessons may be available on Monday nights upon request.  Contact Coach McDonald for more information.
